Like all of you ladies who caved to the other sales, I have no will power and I caved to Lumiere. Can you blame me? The prices were so good that I can't resist!! I ordered my first full size foundations, Medium Beige in both the Cashmere and Veena Velvet formulas. Although with my summer tan, I probably have to mix in some of my Medium Deep samples to get a good match. I also got full size jars of Bare Skin and Sundew Silk Radiance because they are my HG glows and I am running out of my sample baggies!! I also threw in a few more baggies of Earth, Terracotta, Ditto 'O' blushes just because.....I can never get enough of blushes! :) I can't wait to receive them! My first full size jars of mmu! WHEEEEE!
I want to place an order for Dreamworld's Christmas in July sale that's happening on July 15! I am uber excited about that because I have been itching to try out Dreamworld's foundations ever since Ellie started up shop. With all of you started sampling and coming back with all the excellent reviews of their coverage and finish, I am even more excited about it! I might also place an order for Buff'd because I just realised that I qualify for free shipping. Isn't that so cool?
I am majorly infatuated with heavy coverage foundations because I need as much help as I can get in smoothing out the mess that is my face! :(
EDITED to add,
Does anyone have foundation suggestions for me for Dreamworld? I made a list of foundations that sounds like it might work for me. They are Inanna, Pinga, Nagua, Ninsar, Demeter, Amenti, Athena, Pele, Thethys, Themis and Ashnan. Any thoughts about them?
I don't know if you ladies have seen this but Cherryculture raised the prices of the NYX round lipsticks from 99cents to $2! I am really bummed about this because it means we can only get 1 lipstick for that price when we could have gotten 2! It's still pretty cheap as lipstick goes but the costs definitely adds up when you buy a bunch of it. Bleah! I am now mentally kicking myself for not ordering more during the last 20% sale that they had now!!
Why oh why must all good things come to an end?
Hey ladies, I am sorry for dropping off the face of the Earth lately. I was busy at my college's orientation camp for incoming freshmen. It was a blast even though I got like 2 hours of sleep every night and had to slog my guts out to make sure the programmes were enjoyed by the freshmen. It was a crazy and bittersweet experience because this will be my last Arts Camp since I might be graduating this year :( Anyway, it was a relief to come home and finally be able to collapse on a nice comfy bed rather than the hard floor. I was also greeted by the sight of my EDM package! Like finally! Whoohooo! I wanted this post to be about my hauls but I haven't uploaded the pictures and I suddenly felt the urge to post (in case all of you forgot about me! :( )
Seems like there are a lot of wishlists flying around in anticipation of the 4th of July sales so I decided to join in the fun as well!

What were you doing ten years ago?
I was 11 years old and in Primary 5. I think I was in the last week of my midyear holidays. Since it was the last week, I must have been madly rushing out my holiday homework! I had just gotten sorted into a new class and I was still adjusting to the new pace because I was sorted into the top class and I had to compete on a higher level with brainy people :(
What are five things on your to-do list today?
1. Open up my just recently arrived GOW package! :) :) :)
2. Pack my bag for Arts Camp (My faculty's orientation camp for incoming freshmen. I am part of the organizing committee, dealing with programmes during the camp)
3. Get to school for Day Zero of Arts Camp
4. Trial tests of games that will be played during the camp
5. Preparation for Arts Camp
Snacks you enjoy?
Ruffles Sour Cream & Onions, Doritos, Cheetos, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Ben & Jerry's Phish Food ice cream, Nachos with tons and tons of cheese!
Places you’ve lived?
Singapore!
What are 5 things you would do if you were a billionaire? (in no particular order)
1. Travel! I want to backpack around Europe, drive through the United States and cruise the Carribeans (with a special stop at Castaway Cay, Disney's private island). And I don't mind doing it alone.2. Set some aside for my grandparents, parents' retirement and my brother's college education
3. Buy a car! Cars are expensive in Singapore :(
4. Set up a small independent bookstore/cafe.
5. Save up the rest for my future family.
People you want to know more about?
Hey ladies, I know I promised you some NYX Lipstick swatches a long time ago but work just kept piling up. I was away for an academic conference the past few days. I was a Moderator for the Singapore Model United Nations conference. It was a gruelling 5 days because not only because I had to chair the committee sessions, listen to debates by the delegates, approve working papers, draft resolutions and resolutions, I had to babysit the kids before and after the committee sessions as well.
On the first night, we went the watch Prince Caspian. I have never read the books or watched the first movie but I still managed to enjoy the movie! Some parts were very reminiscent to LOTR and it made me miss New Zealand so much! (I have been there 3 times but it's still not enough!) I also had a lot of fun interacting with the other Moderators and Research Experts, we all became great friends within the 4 days because it was a time of intense bonding! Hopefully, we will get to participate as delegates in other international conferences together!
After the conference ended, we went for lunch at Little India where we stuffed ourselves silly with Indian Food before staggering home. I concussed on my bed from 6pm yesterday all the way till 10am this morning. I have never ever slept so much before, even after exams, I was never this exhausted.
I had internet connection these past few days but I didn't have time to read up on all the new updates until now. EDM is having a 20% sale and according to Moosie, it's the best sale they have had in ages! I really want to get in on this one especially since I have been lemming lots of blushes and brushes from EDM for the longest time! I also need to get my GoW list in order, I am rapidly running out of cleansers and I need to get some big ass 4oz-ers! Gahh! Thank goodness, my friend just offered me a 3-day temporary job as a camp facilitator. The money will be just nice for my iPod and Makeup fund!
Okays, the NYX swatches will be coming out in the next post! Look out for 'em!
Clumsy me got into an accident yesterday. I was rushing to catch up with my friends for lunch when I tripped over the steps and fell splat onto my knees and sprained my ankle in the process. Unfortunately it was worse sprain than most and my ankle area immediately swelled up. Funny thing was I didn't feel any pain just numbness around the area. Thank goodness, my friends saw me and immediately brought me to a clinic nearby to get it checked out. Luckily it was a sprain rather than a twist so it's nothing serious, I just need to stay off my feet and rest it a lot.
Anyway, since I have the time, I am going to post up some backdated FOTDs. All of them are Dayna Minerals! The only notes I made for this photos were the foundations I used. Concealers are mostly my trusty MMBB Bisque, EDM Mint Corrector. Primer is usually MMBB Petal Veil. I tried to take most of this photos in natural sunlight as much as possible.
This FOTD features Dayna.
I really like the feel and the finish of this foundation but the coverage is too light for my liking. Hmm, I wonder if Dayna will offer foundations with higher coverage when she opens shop. Colour wise, it looks to peachy for me as well.
I used G2 and the BB Cream that Ann sent me in this FOTD, that's why the undertones looks so totally off. I quite like the feel of the BB cream, it was really cooling to the skin. Perhaps because of the aloe vera in it?
And this is G2 by itself. I like G2 and I think it's a pretty good match, much better than Dayna. In some lighting, it even looks perfect!
Last one of the bunch, here is G2L, I believe this is a custom mix for Lili for her summer looks? Correct me if I am wrong here, Lili and Dayna! Comparing this with G2, I am leaning more towards G2 because G2L looks slightly peachier. I am guessing it's because of the peach that Lili has in her undertones which means I have lesser peach and perhaps more yellow than her. Sighs, look at the finish of the foundation! I look healthy glowy rather than disco ball glowy!
*EDIT: Hmm, I have no idea how come the pictures show up like that on my blog when it's actually perfectly aligned in the Compose textbox. But I think it looks kind of cool! LOL!
I just moved back home for the summer and I had another load of mails waiting on my desk for me!
Don't you feel so happy looking at those gorgeous little baggies of powder! I was so excited ripping out each package to see what I got! Here are some closeups!
j.lynne gave me three free samples of Summer (Mineral Glow), Stone (Plush Velvet E/S) and Clove (Multi-dimensional E/S). I have been lusting over their glows for a long time so I am really excited to try out Summer! It looks so pretty and I think it would work well on it's own!
Below the MMBB samples are some beauty products that I got from a local seller. A Care Pre Make Up Cream and a Charming Cat Mascara. I figured that I should really add a mascara into my makeup collection and since this was highly raved and pretty inexpensive at about SGD4, I really should get it. The Make Up Cream is really tiny and it's supposed to be a second generation (I have the first one too) and has pore-refining qualities. I haven't tried them yet but I will once my skin settles down.
Look at the assortment of samples on the right! They are from the mysterious package that I got! Guess who sent them to me? From a lovely note inside the package, I found out that the mysterious sender was LadyTee! It was such a lovely ROAK that I was literally stunned speechles when I first saw the content of the package! Thank you again, Tina! She gave me some samples of the Shespace custom pigments in Jive and Wail and 1st Class Con, Pure Luxe Kaleidoscope Visions, Meow Lush Blush in Felinus Interruptus, MMBB Mint Julip, Iced Latte, Purple Frost, Red Clay mask, Bisque Concealer, Bright Eyed, Lumiere Silk Blush in Au Naturale and Mimosa as well as Aromaleigh Rococo blush and Coquette lipstick!
I actually have samples of the Silk Blushes and I noticed that LadyTee's samples looks different from mine.
The one on top is mine. I think my samples looks maroon/red while the sample Ladytee have me is slightly more of a brown/red. Interesting, isn't it?
I have a FOTD to share as well. Yesterday I tried out Monave Hyeyeon Concealer Foundation that Sally gave me!
Primer: MMBB Petal Veil
Concealer: MMBB Bisque Concealer
Foundation: Monave Hyeyeon
I adore the coverage that I am receiving from Monave! My skin is really in the midst of purging and it looks really ugly in real life but Monave managed to cover up almost 90% of the ugly. The only issue is that it can't quite cover the bumpiness but then I don't think any foundation could cover that up! But from afar, it does look like I have flawless skin!
Shadewise, Hyeyeon looks a little too dark. My chest/neck looks a lot yellower than the face. I will try out Saturnina the next time, the description says it's meant for Southeast Asians but I have a feeling the SEAsians women they mean are Fillipinos or Indonesians who have darker skin than Chinese. But hey, my closest skin twin in Vox is Nikki so it really might work!
Blush: MAC Eversun
Eyeshadow: MAC Sultress Eye Quad
I was rushing for time so I only used the darker brown colours for shading up my crease.
FP: Pure Luxe April's Mix
Time for a much needed break from mugging!
My parents brought me out to lunch yesterday and I was so glad to get out of campus for one hour just to relax and recharge. Plus I was getting sick of campus food! Anyway, my dad brought my accumulated mails for me! I didn't even ask him to but he brought it anyway! Yay! Thanks Dad!!
TADAA!! (oops you can see my notes in the background!)
Ann - who kindly shared her bb cream with us.
Joyce - who I swapped some of my Lemongrass Cleanser for some of her Emu Oil. She also kindly ROAK-ed me some samples of her SN Tart Light and EDM Sunday Brunch.
Sally - who kindly gave me some of her Cory and Monave samples that didn't match her. She also included an Ethereal Minerals Asian 1.5 sample!
And lastly my NYX Round Lipsticks from a Cherryculture Spree!! WHOO!! I finally got it! Ohmygod, after looking at them, I am so lemming for more!
Exam stress is so making me spend more money online. I placed an order with Lauress with the refund that I got from J.Lynne! I only got foundations in the Gold and Yellow family in the Minimalist formula. I also bought a pair of off-white loafers online, a Charming Cat mascara and a Care Pore-refining makeup cream. I can look forward to more happy mail days!
Hey ladies, I am sure all of you are buzzing about the J.Lynne sale but are put off by the shipping especially ladies from outside the US. Well I was worried about the shipping as well so I emailed Jess about it. She was really nice and prompt with her reply.
On the website, it states that:
Whenever possible, we will ship international orders in padded envelopes, rather than boxes, to reduce the shipping cost. If your order is small enough to be shipped in a padded envelope, we will be happy to give you a partial refund on your shipping fees once your order has been sent out.
Just to confirm this statement, I asked her whether there will be a partial refund on the shipping for a order containing ONLY baggie samples. She replied that a typical samples baggies order will get a partial refund of $7-$8 which means that shipping is only about $3-4. She also emphasised that this was a rough estimate.
Since I have never heard any negatives about J.Lynne, I decided that she sounded trustworthy and reasonable enough to expect that a refund will happen once my package is shipped out and is below the $11 shipping cost, I went ahead and ordered on good faith. I ordered (all baggies):
Light Golden 2.5
Medium Golden 3.5
Medium Warm 3.4
Tan Warm 4.4
Priming Powder (Peach)
Finishing Powder (Golden Green)
Finishing Powder (Lavendar)
Finishing Powder (Translucent)
The foundations were recommended by her after I asked her for recommendations based on my best matches. I initially wanted to order the Beiges but she said that her beiges are for cool toned skin with extremely neutral undertones whereas Asians with yellow undertones would do better with the Goldens or Warms. It was a very pleasant email exchange all within one day! Generally I have a very good impression of Jess and J.Lynne so far. Hopefully the refund will come through once my order ships!
I hope my experience will help you ladies that are looking to order from J.Lynne! :)
* UPDATE ON J.LYNNE ORDER
I got an $8 shipping refund from J.Lynne this morning! Which means that my total ship cost is only $3 which I think is pretty reasonable for a samples order :)
So yay! Now I have got $12 in my paypal, I think I shall head over to Lauress and see what I can get with this little bit of money!
The Joppa foundation sampling continues...
4 April 2008
Primer: Pure Luxe Translucent Matte
Concealers
Foundation: Joppa Simple Radiance in Toffee applied with a damp kabuki
Blush: Joppa Iced Plum
I am really liking the finish of Joppa with a damp kabuki! It so much less cakey and more natural. The colour match also looks slightly better than with a flat top.
I tried on Medium Tan in Soft Coverage over th weekend but I am not going to bother posting up any photos because I didn't take any. The colour match was totally off. When I swiped it on with my kabuki, I immediately saw tan streak with red undertones which is totally at odds with my skintone. It was so wrong that I washed it off immediately and redid my makeup. So Medium Tan is a total bust unless I tan a lot during this summer.
I started sampling the Morning Dew formula of Joppa foundations today but the picture I took had major colour correction issues so I shan't post it up. In any case, I used the damp flat top to test today and I find that coverage is light-medium. It couldn't cover up my acne scars. I had to spot conceal even after putting on foundation! That was how light the coverage was. However I really the glowy finish. This foundation would be a HG if only I had better skin and didn't need so much coverage sigh.
when i first tried it, there was only the original formula. so i gotten that. maybe i shld get a... read more
