One of my best friends, who is a big Korean fanatic, decided to go on a partially solo trip to Korea this summer. As a bit of a makeup addict, how could I not give her a list of things to get?
The Missha bag is so pretty! I apologise for the weird lighting. The light that I took my pictures were kind of terrible since I am not home in the mornings, but don’t you think the light looks as if it’s bursting out of the bag or like there’s some divine spotlight on it? Heh heh.
My entire haul for only SGD55! How cheap can you get, my goodness! Each item is actually less than SGD10, I’m sure every item is marked up at least 100% in retail shops here.
Everything out of their pretty pretty boxes. I actually kept the boxes after I took the products out.
Missha M Watery B.B Cream. Containing a generous amount of moisture. M Watery B.B Cream helps create glowing skin with its natural coverage. Its moisturizing and antioxidant ingredients protect your skin and make it comfortable with moisturizing and cool afterfeel.
Oven Pop Blushers. Light Pink on the left and Peach on the right. I find it odd that they name Light Pink as such since it’s neither pink nor light. It’s leaning towards the brown end of the blush spectrum. But I like it and it’s really pretty with gold shimmers. Peach is more appropriately named and it’s a funny, sunny peach that would look awesome! The photo just don’t do justice to the actual products! Although the colours are gorgeous, I find it slightly bothersome that the tops have to be screwed on and off rather than it being a flip top
I am really excited for these! These are cheek stamps! You just stamped the sponge part on your cheeks and blend out…I got Happy Peach and Smile Peach. Both shades are really pretty! And guess what, they smell of peaches! I have never heard of a blush that have scents. And it’s a really juicy peach smell, not artificial at all!
Trying out the stamps on my arm. Left is Smile Peach and right is Happy Peach. Take note, I have tanned considerably in the last few days volunteering at the Asian Youth Games (Go Team Singapore!)
This is the Orgel Light Eyeshadow 07. I put it on the list on a whim because the casing was cute rather than for the eyeshadow shades. I am really not an eyeshadow type girl…they just don’t get me as excited as blushes do!
Anyway, so that was my Korean haul. My next updates will be pictures of my Macau haul, specifically only the makeup and my Lush haul! Oh yes, and also my EDM spree haul! That should be coming in over the next few days. I have pretty much decided against buying more blushes from EDM. After my B&I haul (which is pretty huge for my standards), I have lost all inclination to spend! *gasps! I wonder how long it will take for me to eat my words….
Mint Lemonade: I love love love this. I don’t care if people said this might smell like a bit like lemon detergent but I LOVE IT! It’s a really refreshing minty, lemony scent. Lemon and mint blend so well together! I just can’t stop sniffing my fragrance balm and the sample soap!
Fruit Salad: This is a very fresh, very real fruit salad scent. If I close my eyes, I would think it’s a real bowl of fruit in front of me rather than a lipbalm! I think my brain isn’t working but I can’t identify the fruit I smelling most. I think it’s honeydew? Or some sort of melon? It’s very sweet and I think it’s starting to grow on me.
Raspberry Mocha: Unlike Toffee Nut Mocha where the Toffee and Mocha was pretty obvious right off the bat. The raspberry comes through stronger here. It’s a very sweet jelly-like raspberry which makes me think of raspberry jam and tarts. This combination of raspberry and mocha doesn’t work much for me, I would prefer a Raspberry single
Toffee Nut Mocha: The toffee is absolutely yummy in here! It’s so buttery and rich that I am so disappointed that this lipbalm has no taste! But hey! on the bright side, if it tastes exactly like it smells, I am going to put on 382093818 kgs! The mocha was no weakling either. The caffeine scent is exactly like a Starbucks cuppa but truly the start of this little lipbalm was the toffee!
Green Apple: Realistic to the core (ha ha). Just yummylicious tart green apple! I really can’t say more!
Cookies & Cream: This is by far my least favourite scent of the bunch. I really don’t get cookies and cream but this really playdoh type scent. I tried to give this a chance by letting the scent cure for awhile before doing this review but nope, no go.
Yes, I received a package of happiness from our very Jen! Lipbalms! Whoohoo!
I received my Your Lips But Better package while I was in Macau. When I
arrived home from the airport, as tired as I was, I immediately tore
into the package. Jen packaged everything prettily and included some
business cards as well. I love the look of her cards. It portrays a
really fun, professional and clean image.
The package smelled amazing because of the Mint Lemonade soap freebie that Jen included in my package. It was a really huge soap too. If you look closer, the design of it is a bee on a honeycomb. So adorable. It’s sitting on my desk right now and I honestly cannot stop smelling the soap. Luckily I bought a fragrance balm in the same scent and I can bring it along with me to sniff or refresh myself. More about the fragrance balm later…
I got a fragrance balm in Mint Lemonade (the only flavour offered at the moment) and 4 lipbalms in Green Apple, Raspberry Mocha, Toffee Nut Mocha and Cookies & Cream. Jen included another freebie lipbalm in Fruit Salad. Have I said how much I love the freebies? Two full size items! Now that’s what I call generous!
Each balm smells delicioussss! I can definitely smell the mocha in the coffee balms and there’s this really fresh fruity smell from Fruit Salad. All the scents are spot on and very pure. They apply very nicely too. It has just enough to moisturise but it won’t turn your lips into an oil slick. I will do more detailed reviews of the lipbalm and their scents in an upcoming post!
Jen also shrinks wrap every lipbalm individually and the shrink wrap is designed to be torn off only at the cap so the rest of the balm is still protected by the plastic. I really do appreciate the gesture but it’s quite difficult to remove them initially although it tears pretty cleanly afterwards.
If I run out of lipbalms, I am definitely going to get more from Jen! Her international shipping charges are reasonable, her products are excellent, she includes gifts and is thoughtful in her entire formulation and production process. What more can you ask for?
Lili is going to kill me for this but...

Hello everyone!
I wonder if y'all still remember that I am alive and kicking! I know I know, same excuses as ever, I'mbusy-I'mtired-I'mdyingfrommenstrualcramps blah blah blah. But I promise this time the reason why I am not not blogging is good.
I AM ON INTERNSHIP!
AT A MUSEUM!!
YAYYAYYAYYAYYAY!
I am so so so lucky to be able to get this internship! A lot of my friends are interning at boring old government bodies or statutory boards and have to wear formal office wear to work but not me!! I get to go to work in jeans and flipflops! And I get to work on exhibitions, research artworks, artists and run museum-y errands. So much more fun than what my friends are doing! Right now, I am working on writing up gallery guides for one of the existing exhibitions. I have been busy researching on artists and artworks, reading up on styles of art and staring at these beautiful pieces all day long. In the midst of this assignment, I have also toured an off-site museum about Peranakan culture, watched the installation of a new exhibit there, attended and assisted in a Peranakan Conference and sat in some of the meetings that my supervisor has. In the past three weeks, I have learnt many many things that I would probably never know if I haven't gotten this gig. And the next few weeks look to be extremely interesting as well. There are going to be some new exhibitions that are opening and new projects as well. I may get to work more intensively on one of them if everything goes well *cross fingers.
It's been fun working with the other interns as well. Most of us are working under different supervisors except for Chompol, Rita and me. But we each have different projects that we are working on. Chompol is from Thailand, Rita is from the US, Gertrude is from Canada while Jie Yin and I are the only locals. For only 5 interns, that's a really international bunch! Chompol will be leaving us this week though :( We always go off for lunch together around 12ish. For some reason, we get hungry real fast so once you hear a stomach growl, it's definitely time to go. And we are also very punctual about knocking off, once 6'o clock hits, we pack up and leave!
So how did I get this awesome awesome gig? Well it all began when for one of my final assignments, I chose the option to review the museum's permanent exhibition. I spent quite a few days in the museum staring at paintings and composing my essay. While surfing their website, I noticed that they had an internship application and I promptly sent mine in since companies I had earlier applied to didn't respond to my applications. The museum emailed me back to say that their internship positions were already filled and would I be interested to volunteer with them instead. Since I had no other things to do and not wanting to have summer filled with nothing, I said yes! When I met up with them to discuss about it, I asked if it would be ok to make this an internship rather than just volunteering because an internship is more valuable on my resume and that I didn't mind not getting paid. They agreed to it and everyone was happy!
Thank goodness, I have a great supervisor, Karen. Although I am a 'volunteer', she works me as hard as I would be if I am a paid intern. She's the kind of person that doesn't care about what you wear or how you look as long as you are able to do your work and do it well. She also brings me along to her meetings not because I am suppose to take notes or do admin work but rather so that I can learn from the topics they are discussing. She's also doesn't see my internship as a 10 weeks thing where I will float in and out of the museum but as a stint that that can run beyond the 10 weeks and be something that will help in my academic work in future. I know some people will think that maybe she wants free labour for as long as possible but I don't think it's that way and I really appreciate her for investing so much in me.
Oh boy, I didn't realise that I yapped so much about my internship. Better move on to some vox-related stuff before y'all start screaming "enough about the museum already, get to the good parts!"
My skincare routine is really really simple nowadays. And I think this is what suits my skin. I have had a drastic reduction in those large acne. From like 5-10 on my face at any one time last year, it's like maybe 1-2 of those little suckers now. Right now I have a medium sized one on the left side of my face which I think it's due to my sleeping position because there's none on the right. My scars have also lightened considerably but there's definitely a way to go before I will be satisfied. Pores and blackheads are pretty much the same, huge but it's not high on list of skin priorities yet.
So this is what I have been doing recently that I think calmed my skin down
Cleanse - Camellia Rose Rose Clay, Goat's Milk and Shea Beauty Bar
Am loving this a lot! it's soft and gentle on the skin and cleanses very effectively. I use it to remove makeup and it gets most of it out! I have also been using the Green Tea Shea and Ananassa Shea bar before the Rose Clay so I believe it's the combined power of Camellia Rose!
Tone - MMBB Concord Grape Setting Mist / GOW Honey Hydrating Mist (diluted with water)
Previously while still in school, I was using the Grape mist regularly in the morning and night but since moving back I have switched to the Honey mist. No reason for it, I just wanted to finish that bottle up. I know I will definitely be ordering most mists from Lisa in future.
Moisturise - GOW Blue Mallow Ha Serum / Hazeline Snow
I was moisturising pretty regularly while in school but I kind of stopped after coming home. I need to get back into the habit
Mask - MMBB Honey & Wild Oats Mask (once a week)
Exfoliate - Queen Helene Oatmeal & Honey Facial Scrub (twice a week)
So THAT's all that I have been doing for my skincare. Amazing, isn't it?
It's time to knock off, I will continue with my makeup routine later, bye!
Why, yes, it is!
I can't help it. CYS products are so addictive and their scent lists is a mile long which means that my favourites list is about half a mile. Every time they have a good sale, I just can't help but take advantage of it! This time, it was the $3 roll on sale. Now I am a huge sucker for roll ons because some import/export law (or whatever) doesn't allow for perfumes to be shipped so roll ons are the only option for me if I want to get fragrances. And plus they are so small and portable which makes for easy dabbing throughout the day.
Here are some of my initial thoughts of the products. More comprehensive reviews will come later. I promise!
Bambina (Hair Protein Mist) - This is really weird but it smells like almond jelly! I don't detect any vanilla, peach, violets or sugar. I haven't sprayed it in my hair yet though, just sniffing from the bottle. Anyone can help me on this?
Americana (Sample Soap) - A fruity vanilla! I can't wait to use this in the bath.
Monet's Garden
(3-in-1) - I would never have thought to try this scent but it's the
perfect floral bath scent! I think this would work great when used as a
bubble bath! Freebie!
I adore the roll ons. They are such a vibrant blue which means I will never miss them when I dump them together with the rest! I got the perfumer's alcohol formulation this time. Next time, I will try the rest! (Heh, already plotting another order!)
Blue Like Jazz (Roll On) - At first, I smelled a lot of musk when I first received it but after letting it sit around for a day, the blueberries are coming out. The combination of blueberries, musk and amber makes this a very grown up fruit scent. Like what the description says, you just have to trust Judy on this and I am so glad I did! I can really see myself wearing this a lot!
Peach Sweet Tea (Roll On) - Wow, the tea
note is really realistic! It really feels like there's a drink in front
of me! My mouth is actually reacting to the scent even though I know
it's not a real drink!
Caribbean Carnivale (Roll On) - This
immediately made me think of Jawbreakers! The scent is so identical,
it's uncanny! There's that sweet powderiness after your jawbreaker has
gotten small enough to bite into! I love this!
Green Apple Chamomile (Tart) - I adore this! The green apple is tart and tangy but the chamomile softens it to make it really pretty. I am looking forward to burning this!
Hawaiian Rain (Tart) - Very sweet and fresh. It's going to make another great room scent.
Happy
Birthday Cupcakes (Tart) - Very buttery, cakey scent. There's a tinge
of lemonade as well but I think I will have to burn it to get the full
scent.
Apricot Cream Puff (Tart) - Really sweet apricots, I detect a little pastry, I think it will come out more during the burn as well. This was a freebie!
I made my order
on Apr 6, got my CnS on Apr 23 and received the package on Apr 30. 7
days from the US to Singapore is pretty darned fast especially when
it's inclusive of a weekend. The box smelled divine and Judy packed
them really nicely with those styrofoam packing nuts. Judy included a
jelly snail which will be my midnight snack. Ha ha ha!
I am still testing my EGM samples! I am not as efficient as I usually am with my testing nowadays because I am getting lazier and lazier in the mornings. I rather reach out for my Lumiere F/S then root around for my little sample jars. But I am really not liking the overly pink undertones in my Lumiere at the moment so I really do need to hunt around in my stash for something more yellow.
Primer: Camellia Rose Skin Smoothing Primer
I have been neglecting this poor little darling :( But I am going back to it now because I noticed that my pores are becoming craters and they look like crap with foundation on.
Concealer: MAC NC30 Concealer
Foundation: EGM Helena
I really like the undertones of this foundation. It's not too yellow that I look jaundiced but it's not pink either. This is an Olive family foundation under EGM's classification. Have I perhaps found my HG?? GASPS! That means I have been wasting a lot of time with yellow and beige foundations when I should have just zoomed straight to Olive. *GROANS.
However I don't like the coverage for this. It's supposed to be the highest coverage formula Cover Me but it can't tame the redness of my cheeks or some of the blemishes/scars that I have. I have other foundations that perform better in terms of coverage.
With more makeup going on here.
Eyes: The Body Shop Eye Definer in Brown
Cheeks: EDM Back To School
Lips: NYX Thalia
I don't know if I like this. It's kind of purple for me but yet sort of natural.
